Literacy-focused, joyful learning for special needs learners and ages 9–12 — hosted at the ForKids Center.

About the Co-op

HomeschoolED Heroes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting homeschool families with literacy-centered programming.

In this program, we mix read-alouds, discussion, and games with simple take-home worksheets so reading feels fun, social, and achievable.

Who it’s for

  • Block 1: Special needs learners — sensory-friendly structure and supports.

  • Block 2: Older homeschoolers (ages 9–12) — discussion, vocabulary games, short writing/creative work.

  • Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Parking & Arrival (Important)

Enter via Decatur Street and use the rear parking lot located directly behind the ForKids building.
Please do not park in the construction area (lot to the left of the large field). The city may tow vehicles with expired tags or other non-compliance.

Accessibility & Supports

We welcome autistic and neurodivergent learners. Visual schedules, sensory-friendly warm-ups, and flexible participation are built into Block 1. Tell us your child’s support needs on the registration form.

What to Bring

All supplies and take-home worksheets provided.

For parents of special needs children, pack any needed regulatory tools for your child (fidgets, tablet, etc) in a secure and labeled bag. We do not assume responsibility for any lost or damaged items.

Photo & Video Policy

HomeschoolED Heroes may take promotional photos/videos during events held outside the ForKids facility.
Inside the ForKids building, photos/videos cannot be posted on social media and may only be shared privately among parents/participants. Parents must obtain permission from Program Director Tamara Mayo before taking photos/videos inside the facility.
